The first key to having and growing a successful vision therapy practice is having a vision and a strong desire to serve patients in this way.  For some practitioners, this desire may have begun before starting optometry school while for others, they simply realized there was a need in their practice and jumped in.  However, just as beginning an optometric practice is not for the faint of heart, neither is initiating a specialty.  Having a real desire, good people skills, and a vision for where they’re going will keep them progressing even before the fruits of their labor begin to manifest.
